“I really want that epic.”
You’re staring at the AH, and you’re fully aware that you don’t have the gold to get that purple into your mailbox. But what can you do? Well, there’s two options available to you, both with significantly different outcomes. Option one, is you go out into the world and grind that gold – do daily quests, grind high-value mobs, and so forth.
The second involves buying gold, and this is possibly the worst thing you could do. Not only are you risking your account (and we mean permanent closure – imagine losing six level 85 characters), but you’re actually destroying the server’s economy.
An MMORPG, like many online gaming experiences from Partypoker.com to Farmville, relies on currency and a sense of economy. But if you bring in a load of currency that was farmed in a way unnatural to the world, or generate money from stolen items (disenchanting a hacked player’s gear and selling shards on AH, or even selling their items direct to vendor), the economy swifly begins to decline in health.
What’s the impact? Well, the more you buy, the higher prices go on the server, and the more you’ll need to buy next time, which will raise prices even more… It’s a vicious cycle of supply and demand that can out-price items from the majoriy of players who want to play the traditional way.
But there are so many ways to get cash in WoW these days that you’d be crazy to buy gold anyway. Quests pay out loads, and even after you’re done levelling, it doesn’t mean you can’t do them! Also try the following:
1) Again, doing daily quests – they take around ten minutes, and pay really well.
2) Grinding mobs – find a spot that few people know of on the server (you never know, you might just find Catclysm’s Elemental Plateau), and grind that place like crazy!
3) Trading – using the AH like a pro can make you a lot of cash.
So take a look around – there’s plenty of places to rake in the moolah, and if you’re heading over to a goldseller’s site, consider this – every copper given to you buy a goldseller that you spend is another copper price-raise. Think smart, and don’t ruin your server.
